Greening with GreenPower, with the added bonus of a tax deduction

If you are running a business or organisation, GreenPower is a great way to promote your sustainability to your customers, and join 47 000 other organisations using GreenPower.  With our electricity sector in Australia causing a big chunk of our carbon footprint, there is a way for homes and businesses to be sure that all their electricity is indirectly sourced from renewable energy rather than polluting coal or gas. For those unfamiliar with certified GreenPower, here is a description:  http://www.greenpower.gov.au/ When I looked at what GreenPower options my electricity retailer offered, I found them lacking in flexibility.  Further research led me to the Alternative Technology Association website, where I came across this alternative way to purchase certified C3 GreenPower https://www.climatechest.org.au/host/ata/ It is much more flexible – I could choose exactly how many KwH of electricity to cover, and over what time period, and which wind farm would provide the extra electricity to the grid. A C3 GreenPower purchase is also tax deductible, and better value in the KwH covered per dollar.

About EmpowerRepower

I’m a teacher, former teacher-librarian, ex-volunteer breastfeeding counsellor and mother-of-three living on the Sunshine Coast. I’m concerned about climate change, and feel that the necessary changes to prevent the worst outcomes will rely on action from all sectors of our economy. I’ll be trying to share, promote and encourage that action by finding positive examples in our local community.
